Annual General Meeting and Board of Trustee Elections

Monday June 24 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Join us for the Annual General Meeting of the Sparwood Public Library Association: Monday June 24th 6pm at the Library (110 Pine Ave Sparwood).

Interested in running for the Board of Trustees?

Review the SPLA Board Recruitment Package 2024 and fill out the Candidate Nomination Form by 5pm on Friday, June 21st, 2024. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor.

About the Library

  • The Sparwood Public Library is a Public Library Association (PLA) under Section 31 of the Library Act. We are a member-based organization and our board elected by its members.

Voting and Eligibility

  • You must be 18 years of age to vote and hold a board position.
  • Only members of the Association are eligible to vote (which commonly means valid cardholders).

Board Composition and Responsibility

  • The board consists of a minimum of 5 elected members.
  • The board is responsible for the strategic direction, policy development, as well as providing financial and legal oversight. Operational matters are handled by the Library Director and staff.
