Academic Search Elite – Full-text articles from over 1,000 journals, covering a range of topics, including business, social sciences, general science, and multiculturalism.
Accessible Reading BC – An accessible collection of eBooks from BC publishers available to BC residents through their public library. All the eBooks in this collection are accessible using screen readers and screen magnification, refreshable braille displays, switches or other assistive technologies for people with print disabilities.
Ancestry Library Edition – provides genealogical and historical research capabilities. With more than 5 billion names in over 4,600 databases, includes census, military, court, land, and probate records; vital and church records; directories; and passenger lists. In-library use only.
Auto Repair Source: –Auto Repair Source contains the following:
- Service information optimized for the most common maintenance and repair operations
- Technical service bulletins and recall notices
- Component location diagrams for most domestic and imported cars and light trucks
- Precise and comprehensive wiring diagrams for all systems
- Maintenance schedules and estimated labor times for the most commonly performed operations in a mechanical repair shop
- Engineering specifications/standards for the most common repairs and adjustments
- Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), flowcharts and step-by-step diagnostic instructions covering powertrain, chassis, body, and network communication
- Part numbers, diagrams and pricing for thousands of the most commonly replaced parts, including manufacturer-suggested retail price to help users validate the cost of repairs and identify all iterations of a part number or part status (current, superseded, split, discontinued)
Bibliothèque numérique de la Colombie-Britannique (BC French Language collection) – A collection of French language eBooks and audiobooks from Canadian and international publishers. It includes popular genre fiction, bestsellers, non-fiction and more. There are titles for adults, teens and children. BC Codes – The BC Codes include the BC Building Code, the BC Fire Code, and BC Statutes & Regulations. BC Laws – BC Revised Statutes and Consolidated Regulations. BCStats is the central statistical agency of the Province of British Columbia. They offer data services, business and economic statistics, labour and social statistics, population stats, and survey and analysis. DataBC provides easy access to public BC government data, applications and web services
BC Historical Newspapers – search nearly 5 million digitized pages of news, ads, images and more that showcase B.C.’s heritage: Vancouver Sun, The Province, the Times-Colonist Archives – Online access to three Canadian historical newspaper archives: the Vancouver Sun (1912-2010), the Times-Colonist (1884-2010) and The Province (1894-2010). This access was made possible by the library members of BC ELN, the BC Libraries Cooperative and Focused Education Resources
Business Source Premier – Includes more than 2,000 business journals covering topics such as marketing, management, accounting and finance, as well as information about specific trades, industries and professions. Additional content includes market research reports, industry reports, country reports, company profiles.
Canadian Encyclopedia – A comprehensive information source about Canada and Canadians, for students, the general public and scholars. Includes articles written by experts, as well as web links and multimedia clips. No library card is required to access these resources on the Internet.
Canadiana -Provides access to the digital collections of Canada’s libraries, museums, and archives. A great source for Canada’s documentary heritage for researchers, students, and the general public. Now surpassing the 60 million-page mark, it opens the door to books, journals, newspapers, government documents, photographs, maps, post cards, sheet music, audio and video files about our nation’s heritage.
Clicklaw – An Internet subject guide to authoritative legal resources in BC and Canada. Developed by the Legal Services Society of BC and now maintained by the BC Courthouse Library Society. No library card is required to access this resource on the Internet.
Consumer Health Complete [EBSCO] – Health information for the general public, patients and health professionals. Includes mainstream medical information and holistic/alternative health information from popular and professional magazines, journals, reference books and reports. Also includes the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, with up-to-date information on medications, natural products and vaccines available in the U.S.
Gale Courses – A wide range of highly interactive, instructor led courses that you can take entirely online. Courses run for six weeks and new sessions begin every month.
Greenfile-A free database with an environmental focus, containing accessible information on topics ranging from global warming to recycling to alternate fuel sources and beyond.
JusticeBC -Provides general information on criminal and family law in British Columbia, including special sections addressing the particular needs of victims, witnesses, family members, accused etc., and many links to family law resources and services provided by government.
Kermode Education –
KnowBC includes the Encyclopedia of British Columbia Online, and includes thousands of entries, photos, illustrations, and multimedia covering BC-related information.

Storybooks Canada – Storybooks Canada is a free open educational resource that promotes literacy and language learning in homes, schools, and communities. It makes 40 stories from the African Storybook available with text and audio in English, French, and the most widely spoken immigrant and refugee languages of Canada. We are also developing Indigenous Storybooks and the Global Storybooks literacy portal.
